Freedom Powersports

Hello, Im Kevin Lackey, President of Freedom Powersports and iRide Holdings.

Kevin Lackey- CEO   Mr. Lackey began working at the Weatherford location in 1998, when he prepared units for display or sale, and quickly joined the service manager’s support staff. After a successful stint in customer service where he raised revenues 24% in only eight months, he was named parts manager. As parts manager, he identified and corrected a faulty warranty claims process that garnered the company $40,000 in credits, recouped $12,000 in parts returns and liquidated an additional $20,000 in obsolete parts at a profit, all in his first 60 days.   Soon after the dealership changed hands in 2000, Mr. Lackey was called on to fill in on the sales floor, and he proceeded to account for nearly half of the dealership’s sales over his first month in that position. A week later he replaced the ineffective sales manager, then was sent to Utah for training on new software the dealership was to implement. He, in turn, trained the rest of the location’s employees on the new software and began functioning as a leader at the dealership, both in sales and in overall management.   When the dealership was sold to Family Powersports in 2007, he again had to prove himself to a new owner. He did so very swiftly and was named general manager within a year.   Shortly thereafter, Family Powersports was experiencing significant problems at its McKinney location, including theft, a poor culture and financial losses. Mr. Lackey was asked to step in, while still managing the Weatherford location. He turned the McKinney store around in just 60 days, both qualitatively and quantitatively, fixing the issues and returning it to profitability.   With much cajoling, Mr. Lackey was finally allowed to open a new dealership in late 2010, which became the Hurst arm of Family Powersports. He handled everything from site selection and dealership rights to hiring staff, reconditioning the building and implementing all processes and procedures, and turned a profit in the first full year of operations. Mr. Lackey’s thought process, team orientation, dedication to operational excellence and attention to detail has functioned at an ownership level for over a decade. He has consistently improved the business in areas that other managers would typically overlook. He has brought profitability to departments and locations where others couldn’t, and has proven that he canopen a new location and bring it to profitability in the first year, even with a limited product line and virtually no financial resources.
